Playing as Zombie
Being a zombie is mechanically different from playing as human. You don’t shoot: you run, coordinate, and time your attacks.
Your goal
Section titled “Your goal”Infect every human before they reach the escape trigger. You don’t need to infect all of them yourself, each human you infect becomes another zombie helping you.
Speed and mobility
Section titled “Speed and mobility”Zombies are fast. Use this. You can catch isolated humans easily. Don’t waste time fighting into a well-organized hold, look for flanks and shortcuts when possible.
Targeting
Section titled “Targeting”Prioritize:
- Isolated or slow humans at the back of the group
- Humans holding an exposed position
- Item holders (if you can reach them). Removing an item user can flip a hold
Coordinating with other zombies
Section titled “Coordinating with other zombies”Like humans, zombies benefit from coordination:
- Multiple zombies rushing a defense from one direction creates chaos
- Splitting the approach forces humans to cover two angles
- One zombie acting as a distraction while another flanks is a classic pattern
Zombie-specific abilities
Section titled “Zombie-specific abilities”Many ZE maps add zombie-specific abilities/items via EntWatch: a leap, a scream that blinds humans, HP regeneration, or a speed boost. These vary by map and server.
Winning as zombie
Section titled “Winning as zombie”Most ZE rounds favor humans on well-played maps. As a zombie, your win condition is often exploiting human mistakes: late movers, poor positioning, or an item that wasn’t used properly. Make sure not to go AFK right after getting infected, try and help your new team!
